Reference yearThe year beside each value identifies the source period used in the table.
CoverageCountries or education systems without a reported value are not assigned an estimated rank.
Assessment resultsPISA, TIMSS and PIRLS cover participating systems and keep subjects or grade levels separate.
Ranking scopeSpending, enrollment, literacy, attainment and test scores are not combined into an unstated overall score.
