Education data can be useful only when the metric, coverage, and source year stay visible. These principles guide rankings, charts, comparisons, and country profiles.

Metric-first, not headline-first

Rankings are tied to a specific indicator. Literacy, enrollment, spending, and assessment scores are not mixed into a single score unless a transparent methodology is stated.

A 2026 page may use the latest official value from 2023 or 2024. Tables show source years so the page year is not confused with the data year.

Charts improve scanning, but the full table is the source of truth. Data remains readable even when JavaScript, Chart.js, or browser extensions fail.

Coverage is part of the result

PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS include participating systems only. UNESCO and World Bank indicators have wider coverage, but availability still varies by country and year.
